Us
History
In
1994, a group of concerned Radnor Township School District
residents met with school administrators.
The costs of state mandated educational requirements were,
and still are, increasing dramatically and were impacting the
district’s budget. The
programs affected were enrichment curriculum and innovative pilot
studies.

These
concerns gave birth to the RADNOR EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION.
The Foundation is an independent, charitable 501c(3)
organization registered in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The Foundation is funded solely through donations from
individuals, corporations, grants from other foundations and
fundraising events.
We
have funded grants that further enrich and

create opportunities
for the students of Radnor Township School District.
The Foundation’s purpose is to enhance Radnor’s
educational programs through innovative curriculum enhancement
tools or programs, extra teaching resources and pilot projects.
Since
its inception, REF has awarded over $ 450,00 in grants.
The Foundation has funded community projects that
promote cultural diversity, educate parents on the use
of illicit drugs and alcohol, art and music residency
programs, and leadership programs.
A new
climbing wall was installed at Radnor
Elementary School. All three elementary school have
climbing walls with curriculum based programming that
facilitates self-esteem, leadership and team building
skills for our students. A climbing wall and low ropes
components are planned for the new middle school(Fall
2007).
A new
Community Outreach committee has been initiated that
will take a proactive approach identifying areas of need
within the RTSD community and will offer support, both
financial and with REF volunteers. This committee is
currently

working
with the DATF(Drug & Alcohol Task Force) at the middle and
high school levels to create a curriculum based wellness
program for both students and parents. We are also assisting
in revitalizing the Alumni Association of Radnor High School
by leveraging the knowledge and accomplishments of our
alumni for future generations. |
Mission
The Foundation is an independent non-profit community
organization whose purpose is to secure and provide funding and
services in order to enrich the educational experience and create
innovative opportunities for the students of Radnor Township
School District.
Vision
It
is the vision of the Foundation to enhance, through community
support and involvement, the Radnor Township School District’s
potential to achieve its goal of becoming a world-class school
district by preparing its children with the tools and skills
necessary to compete in a changing, global environment. This will
be realized through building a sense of community, cooperation and
pride for the entire community.
