The REF Educator Impact Award is an annual recognition for a staff member at Radnor High School (RHS) who shows up for students, not just with lessons and tests, but with kindness, support, and heart. The award celebrates the same values that former RHS principal Mark Schellenger held in the role. REF proudly bestows the award on an educator who is nominated by students, staff, parents, and other administrators, requesting evidence of these values in their work as well as school and community involvement.
The 2026 Educator Impact Award goes to Edward (Ed) Ruby, who is also r
etiring this year from RHS. Mr. Ruby received a number of heartfelt testimonials from students, parents, and peers, and embodies the clear evidence of the difference he has made every day in the lives of RHS students.
Ed received a BA in History from Rutgers, a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Education Certification from St. Joseph’s University, and a Certification from Harvard University Case Method Institute. His teaching career followed a 25-year stint at Verizon. At RHS, Ed’s experience included 11 years teaching Social Studies including the following courses: 9th grade Government & Economics, 10th grade World Studies, and Senior Seminar Integrated English & Social Studies Honors course. He was also an Assistant Coach of the Varsity and JV softball teams for 5 years. Â
Mr. Ruby was presented the award at an all-school assembly on Friday, May 22, 2026 and will also be allotted $500 to earmark towards the RHS student group, club, or activity of his choice.
We congratulate Ed Ruby on being this year’s award recipient.
