Radnor Educational Foundation Supports ACTS Technology Program
Radnor teachers offered new technology and training
The Radnor Educational Foundation awarded a $12,000 grant to Radnor Township School District allowing four teachers to participate in the ACTS program (Aligning Curriculum to Technology Standards), offered as part of RTSD’s strategic plan. The ACTS initiative is designed to expand teachers’ understanding of the application of technology to deepen students’ understanding of academic standards and to support the development of critical and creative thinking.
Through this program, teachers learn to evaluate technology lessons, to plan for appropriate technology use and to improve existing lessons using applications and Web sites that engage students and deepen and extend learning.
Nina Robinson, Mark Trama and Amy Thompson of Radnor Elementary School and Rebecca Lieb of Radnor High School participated in these professional development sessions, and each of their classrooms received smart board interactive technology. The teachers developed model lessons that use technology to improve both teaching and learning. Thirty Radnor teachers have participated in the ACTS program since 2004.
The Radnor Educational Foundation’s mission is to secure and provide funding and support to enrich the educational experience, maintain academic excellence and encourage innovative opportunities for the students of the Radnor Township School District.
